Claire Jean Wilcox

Claire Jean Wilcox (she/her, b. 2003) is a Chinese American dance artist from Minnesota Makoce. With her roots in folk, classical, and contemporary Chinese dance, Claire received her BA in Dance from the University of Minnesota. She is currently based between the Netherlands and Budapest, where she seeks further depth, range, and connection in her dance practice. Claire is performing with the SUB.LAB.PRO for the 2025-26 season.

Dance connects me with ancestral forces, engages present realities, and activates visions of liberation. Grounded by the reiki principle of “just for today”, I experience dance as a practice of patience and presence, where process and preparation are as visceral as the sharing of performance. Octavia Butler’s vision of humanity’s reciprocal relationship with change invigorates me to create and transform.
