DŌJŌ is a hall or place for immersive-, experiential learning, or meditation. This is traditionally found in the field of martial arts.
After Jenna’s previous two performances – RING (circle dances) and HALO (sacred dances) – she continues to decode tradition in the world of martial arts.
‘Throwing’ 5 pas de deux’s on to the tatami using Brazilian jiujitsu, judo and ‘deadbody’ partnering and placing them into the musical structure of classical ballet class, accompanied by a pianist.
Practice, repetition, pas de deux, choke, throw, plié, petit allegro, finale.
When does practice become the art itself?
