TAMARA ZSÓFIA VADAS

Tamara Zsófia Vadas is a Budapest-based dance-performer, choreographer and dance teacher with a deep commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and collective creative processes. Her education includes the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy and The Danish National School of Performing Arts, providing her with a strong foundation in contemporary dance and performance.

Tamara does not interpret dance as a mere combination of steps, but as a way of creating connections; it is the establishment of a relationship with something or someone. Her approach integrates dance, visual arts, theater, and music, reflecting her commitment to breaking boundaries and fostering interdisciplinary exploration. Central to her practice is the act of initiating interactions and working within “performative situations,” where various artistic forms intersect and reshape each other. Her work is characterized by a non-hierarchical, collaborative framework, often engaging individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds to enrich the collective creative experience.

She operates without a formalized company, preferring to function through “horizontal relations” and spontaneously developed collectives. For Tamara, teaching, creating, and performing dance are inseparable elements of her artistic journey. With an emphasis on “stepping into the field of not knowing,” she views dance as a constantly evolving art form that thrives through shared experiences and collective effort. Tamara’s area of interest lies in the space of unknowing, situated in the gap between the spectator and the performer.

Tamara Zsófia Vadas was a fellow in the Eastern European Network of Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2024 I consider important the culture of the body, the diversity of dance art and the possibility of a physical existence present in contemporary art, which I can cultivate through dance and performance art. I feel a responsibility to share and exchange knowledge and a need for constant development. Art for me is a filter through which experience, explore and perceive the world around me. The knowledge that is in our bodies and can be expressed through our bodies represents for many of us a language that is spoken by all, but the re-discovery and contextualisation of this knowledge can be both research and artistic practice. Through the practice of art we do not need exploitation, but a sustainable existence towards our environment and ourselves.

Imre Vass (Vasi) is a Budapest based performing artist and author who wanders between the fields of dance, choreography and performance. His works are inspired and determined by self-reflection, insights and pitfalls related to the objects and qualities of perception.
“I host environments for a non-harmful exploration of the comfort zone, to overcome the uncomfortable while tuning, training and sharpening the muscles of attention. I play with expectations and I flirt with ambiguity on the playground of performing arts.”
