Júlia Vavra – Default Mode Network

“D E F A U L T M O D E N E T W O R K” is a space where you can wander around. Ten performers diving into their internal tasks. Images emerge from a dreamlike dramaturgy. Giving space and time for things to happen and for images to appear. An illogical narrative is leading us through this journey. Our attention swings between the external and the within. “D E F A U L T M O D E N E T W O R K” invites us to walk the thin line between fiction and reality and plays with the border of focus and absentmindedness.
Default Mode Network:

The default mode network (DMN) is a set of brain regions that are most active when the mind is at wakeful rest, not focused on the outside world. It is associated with internally-focused activities like daydreaming, self-reflection, mind-wandering, recalling memories. It can also be active during detailed thoughts related to external task performance. Other times that the DMN is active include when the individual is thinking about others, thinking about themselves, remembering the past, and planning for the future. The DMN creates a coherent “internal narrative” central to the construction of a sense of self.
