Lea Amneby Snickars
Lea is a dancer and performer from Stockholm, Sweden (she/her b. 2003). She started dancing ballet at four years old and has kept on moving since. As a dancer, Lea is primarily trained in contemporary, floorwork, improvisation, ballet and partnering. In June 2025 Lea graduated from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) with a bachelor in contemporary dance. During her time in Oslo, Lea was involved in different creative processes, mostly as a collaborative dancer, and performed in works by international and norwegian choreographers such as Fabrice Mazliah, Fieldworks (Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki), Zsuzsanna Rózsavölgyi and Anne-Linn Akselsen. During her studies, Lea also engaged with her own work, which has been presented at the National Museum in Oslo, the Musical Quarter in Stockholm and the cultural youth festival GNIST in Denmark. Currently, Lea is a dancer at SUB.LAB.PRO in Budapest.
As a dance artist, I strive to, through the practice of dance and the creation of choreography, actively practice empathy, presence and care – on stage as well as in the studio. I see these qualities as a general approach to my work rather than an aesthetic expression. My goal is to be a versatile dancer with a rich physical movement vocabulary, extensive imagination and strong performative ability. I am inspired by the duality between play and seriousness offered through performing arts. In my work, I am curious about how dance can offer alternative ways of perceiving and engaging with the world and with reality itself.
The movement I make is making me.
My dance is dancing me.
