Lou Cisnal

Lou is a French agender dancer and performer (he/they) born in 2000. He grew up in an open-minded and artistic family, with a mother and her twin sister both being dance teachers, and an aunt who is a painter. Always drawn to freedom—running outside barefoot all day long and climbing everywhere (nothing has changed)—he first started with gymnastics competitions before moving on to dance in various styles and theater.

From 2020, he was part of the CobosMika SEEDs program for two years, then almost immediately joined Jasmin Vardimon Junior Company in 2023. During this time, they collaborated and performed with some incredible dancers, performers, and choreographers, including Peter Mika, Miquel Barcelona, Claire Pernette, Laura Lamy & Tristan Robilliard, André Rebelo, Alexander Stavropoulos, and Kay Crook. In 2024, Lou and their friends created their own dance collective called IBAWA and made their first piece, Gaua. At this point, he is currently part of SUB.LAB.PRO The Ensemble Program.

Lou is a mover with a strong, distinctive Gen Z personality, constantly questioning societal and artistic dogma. Techno, hardcore music, gabber, and Free-Party cultures are part of his identity and deeply influence their groove. Groove is what connects Lou to their inner sensations—moving for pleasure, with no expectations, just instinct.

For him, dancing is not only an essential, intimate, and personal journey in daily life but also a pursuit of a more anarchistic, thoughtful, and inclusive approach—one that legitimizes every feeling, path, and neurodivergence, both within himself and in others. Protest through his body is a necessity; reaching the point where movement no longer belongs to anyone and instead creates a new flow of thought in the minds of others.
Dance frees the mind. Dance is magic.

“On n’arrête pas un peuple qui danse.”
“A people dancing is unstoppable.”
