Yona Corbic

Yona Corbic is a French contemporary dancer and performer, born in 2004.

She discovered dance at the age of seven on Réunion Island and explored a variety of styles before finding her path in contemporary dance.
In 2021, she left her home island to pursue professional dance training in the CobosMika Seeds Program in Spain for three years. She spent her final year in the junior company, performing regularly on stage in both repertoire and newly created works.
She had the opportunity to work and create with choreographers such as Albert Galindo, Angela Boix Duran, Marina Rodriguez (La Veronal), and Peter Mika—an experience that enriched her practice and opened her to a broad spectrum of artistic expression.
She is now part of SUB.LAB.PRO The Ensemble Program, where she continues to push her boundaries, nurture her artistry, and explore innovative forms of collaboration.

For Yona, dance is a playground where the body becomes a language, guided by flow, music, and the present moment. She draws inspiration from the world around her rather than from dance itself, always seeking to push her physical limits.
Her island roots and culture have taught her to enjoy the present moment, to value sharing, and to connect with others — a mindset she infuses into her work.
Balancing precision and release, she explores the duality between strength and vulnerability.

For her, dance is an instinctive and honest way to express, to denounce, and to transform reality — simply because dancing is vital and cool.
